Telehealth AI visibility is how often ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Perplexity, Claude and Gemini name and cite your service when patients ask which online provider to use, and Curve Compliance's AI Visibility shows you that for the questions your patients ask. It shows which telehealth brands the answers name instead of you, which pages they cite, and what to publish next. AI Visibility is a feature in Curve Compliance, and Curve also offers it as a managed service.

How patients choose a telehealth service in AI answers

OpenAI's January 2026 report on ChatGPT and healthcare says “More than 40 million turn to ChatGPT every day with healthcare questions.” It adds that “seven in 10 healthcare conversations in ChatGPT happen outside of normal clinic hours,” which OpenAI defines as 8am to 5pm local time (OpenAI). For a telehealth brand, the question that matters is what those answers say when someone asks which online service to use.

KFF's March 2026 poll found “about a third (32%) of adults are turning to AI for health information and advice.” Among those users, many cite “wanting to look up information before seeing a provider (41%)” as a major reason (KFF). For those patients, the AI answer comes before the first appointment.

Google says AI Mode “is particularly helpful for queries where further exploration, reasoning, or complex comparisons are needed” (Google). Choosing an online service is that kind of question: which one takes my insurance, which one is licensed in my state, which one has a visit today. For how patients use these tools more broadly, see how patients use ChatGPT to find a doctor.

Which telehealth questions to track

Start with the questions your patients actually ask, grouped into topics, such as best telehealth therapy for anxiety, or your brand against a named competitor. Start with the questions closest to a patient choosing a service, such as which online service is best for their condition, or how you compare with another provider.

Example telehealth questionWhat the answers tell you
best online therapy service that takes insuranceWhich services AI recommends when a patient is ready to choose
[your brand] vs [competitor] for online visitsHow AI describes you next to a named rival
telehealth doctor licensed in FloridaWhether AI names you for patients in a state you serve
does [your brand] take insuranceWhether AI states your own facts correctly
how does an online doctor visit workWhich pages AI cites when it explains your category

One patient question can turn into many searches behind the scenes. Google says AI Overviews and AI Mode may use a query fan-out technique, issuing multiple related searches across subtopics and data sources to develop a response (Google). So a page that answers the follow-up questions too has more chances to be used. For more, see query fan-out in healthcare.

Who AI names instead of you

In telehealth, the brand an AI answer names is often the one a patient tries first. AI Visibility shows you which services win those answers when you're left out. It shows where competitors are named and you aren't, who leads each topic, and which sources AI cites. It reports mention rate (how often AI answers name you), citation rate (how often they cite your site) and share of voice (your share of the mentions among the brands you compete with).

Google says “No third-party tool has access to our internal ranking or AI systems” (Google). AI Visibility shows what the answers say, so you can act on what patients actually see.

Turning gaps into pages your clinicians approve

AI Visibility turns what it finds into a weekly roadmap sized to what your clinicians can publish, with medical topics flagged for clinical review. It measures what each published piece changes. With the managed service, Curve's team writes the pages on your roadmap, and your clinicians review and approve anything medical before it goes live.

That pace fits Google's advice. Google tells site owners to “Focus on developing unique, expert-led content that provides value beyond common knowledge,” and warns that making separate content for every fan-out variation “primarily to manipulate rankings or generative AI responses in Google Search violates Google's scaled content abuse spam policy” (Google).

Can AI assistants read your telehealth site?

AI search can only cite pages it can read. OpenAI says “Sites that are opted out of OAI-SearchBot will not be shown in ChatGPT search answers, though can still appear as navigational links” (OpenAI). Google says a page must be “indexed and eligible to be shown in Google Search with a snippet” to appear as a supporting link in AI Overviews or AI Mode (Google). Check that your robots.txt doesn't block the search bots, that key pages carry their text in the HTML, and that snippets are allowed. For bot choices, see AI crawlers on healthcare websites.

AI Visibility checks whether AI search can read your site, and what to fix. With the managed service, Curve's team makes those fixes for you.

From AI answers to booked visits

Being named is only half the story. AI Visibility ties AI answers to the visits and bookings they bring you, so you can see which answers and pages bring patients who book, not only who is named. For the full path from answer to appointment, see AI search traffic to bookings. To set up referral reporting in analytics as well, see measuring AI search traffic for healthcare.

No patient data in the questions

Telehealth brands carry patient trust in every tool they add. AI Visibility is built for healthcare: only the marketing question you track is sent to AI assistants, screened for PHI first, and never anything about a patient. Curve is SOC 2 Type II and signs a BAA on every plan. For the privacy detail, see HIPAA-compliant AI visibility tracking.

How Curve Compliance helps

AI Visibility is a feature in Curve Compliance, and Curve also offers it as a managed service. It shows how often AI assistants name and cite your service, which telehealth brands they name instead, and what to publish next. It ties AI answers to the visits and bookings they bring you. It catches what AI gets wrong about your practice, so you can correct it on the pages AI reads. Every week you get a plain-language summary of what changed, and a one-page report to share.

With the managed service, Curve's team sets up your questions, competitors and topics, writes the pages on your roadmap, and makes the technical fixes that help AI assistants read your site. Your clinicians review and approve anything medical before it goes live. Each month, Curve's team walks you through your results on a call and sends a one-page report. AI Visibility is available on request: book a call to get started. See AI Visibility and the AI Visibility managed service.

In one AI Visibility program we've run, for a HIPAA-focused healthcare software brand, AI assistants named or cited the brand in more than half of their answers to its 40 core buyer questions about five weeks in. Across 184 buyer questions, its site was cited in more AI answers than any competitor's, more than 2.5 times as many as the nearest one.

Curve Compliance also measures the rest of the telehealth funnel. Curve replaces browser ad pixels with one script, sends conversions server-side to Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, Microsoft Advertising and LinkedIn, and strips PHI before data reaches an ad platform. It keeps ad attribution when a patient leaves to book in IntakeQ, Calendly, Acuity or Jane App, and receives outcomes from booking systems and CRMs through incoming webhooks. Curve is SOC 2 Type II, signs a BAA on every plan, and its team sets up the ad tracking for you. See Curve for telehealth and HIPAA-compliant conversion tracking for telehealth.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if ChatGPT recommends my telehealth service?

Ask the questions your patients ask and record which services each answer names. Curve Compliance's AI Visibility shows this across ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Perplexity, Claude and Gemini, with your mention rate, citation rate and share of voice.

Which questions should a telehealth brand track in AI answers?

Start with the questions closest to a patient choosing a service, such as the best online service for a condition you treat, or how you compare with a named rival. Then add questions about the states you serve and about your own facts, such as which insurance you take.

Can I track AI answers by state?

Yes. Add local questions for the states you serve, such as a telehealth doctor licensed in your state, and AI Visibility shows which services AI names for them. See tracking AI answers market by market.

Does it work for GLP-1 or therapy telehealth?

Yes. You choose the questions and the competitors, so a GLP-1 program or an online therapy service tracks its own patients' questions. See GLP-1 clinic AI visibility and therapy practice AI visibility.

Can I see bookings from AI answers?

Yes. AI Visibility ties AI answers to the visits and bookings they bring you. See AI search traffic to bookings.

Does AI Visibility send patient data to AI assistants?

No. It's built for healthcare: only the marketing question you track is sent to AI assistants, screened for PHI first, and never anything about a patient. Curve is SOC 2 Type II and signs a BAA on every plan.

Is AI Visibility software or a service?

Both. Curve Compliance includes AI Visibility as a feature, and Curve's team can also run it for you as a managed service. AI Visibility is available on request: book a call to get started. Talk to the Curve team about having us run AI Visibility for you.

What does Curve's team do in the managed service?
