TikTok restricted our ad account or warned it could be suspended
Restricted: Some features have been restricted for your ad account due to persistent violations.
On this page
A TikTok account suspension warning, or an Account Health status of Attention needed or Restricted, means TikTok has found policy violations in your ads and the account is moving toward suspension. The warning is your chance to stop it: TikTok says its primary purpose is "to provide you with educational information and an opportunity to take appropriate action to prevent your account from being suspended." Restricted is the step after that, and Poor means the account is suspended. Open Account Health, fix or pause every ad group it lists, appeal only the ones flagged in error, and keep the same violations from coming back.
Curve Compliance helps clinics keep TikTok working for them. Curve replaces the TikTok pixel with HIPAA-compliant, server-side conversion tracking, alongside Meta Conversions API, Google Ads, Microsoft and LinkedIn, detects PHI-like patterns before data reaches an ad platform, and signs a BAA on every plan. Curve's team does the setup for you, typically live in about a week. Book a call with Curve.
Where your account stands
In TikTok Ads Manager, click Tools, then Account setup, then Account Health. The Health overview shows one of four statuses:
- Good: "Your ad account complies with TikTok's advertising policies. You don't need to take any actions."
- Attention needed: "Your ad account needs attention to comply with TikTok's advertising policies."
- Restricted: "Some features have been restricted for your ad account due to persistent violations."
- Poor: "Your ad account doesn't comply with TikTok's advertising policies. Your account is suspended and you can no longer run ads with this ad account."
What the warning is telling you
TikTok defines the warning as "a notification that you receive when you violate an advertising policy, which can then lead to a declined account health status. In the warning notification, you will find links to campaigns in your TikTok Ads Manager that have violations." It also says "Continued violations may lead to the suspension of your account." Three things to keep in mind, in TikTok's words:
- "There are certain advertising policies that may trigger immediate account suspensions without prior warning."
- "It is possible to receive multiple warnings in a single day to alert you of repeated violations."
- "Your TikTok Ads Manager may include deleted ad groups."
What to fix first
- In Account Health, open Ad group status, click each policy category, then click View ad group details to see the specific violations.
- Fix or pause every ad group listed. For clinics the usual causes are missing 18+ targeting, missing proof of certification, and weight loss or body image claims; see TikTok rejected our weight loss clinic's ad.
- Fix the landing pages too, then leave them alone. TikTok lists "You made changes to your ad's landing page after creating a campaign." among its common reasons for suspension.
- Appeal only what was flagged in error. TikTok says you "have the option to work with your TikTok Sales Representative or submit an appeal on your own", and asks you to "only file one appeal for each incident."
- Check Account Health every day while you work. "Your account health status updates daily based on your account's performance."
If the account reaches Poor
At Poor, the account is suspended and "All ads under the suspended ad account will be stopped." On a first violation, "you'll have 30 days to address the issues with your ads or ad account or submit an appeal." If the issues remain or the appeal is rejected after 30 days, the suspension becomes permanent. TikTok also notes that a jump from Good straight to Poor, without Attention needed or Restricted in between, can mean "there might be outstanding payment issues or other risks associated with your ad account."
The appeal runs by ticket, and TikTok is clear about one thing: "Avoid creating any new ad accounts while your appeal is being reviewed." For the full process, read TikTok suspended our clinic's ad account and should we open a new ad account?.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Attention needed, Restricted and Poor?
Attention needed means the account needs attention to comply with TikTok's policies. Restricted means some features have been restricted due to persistent violations. Poor means the account is suspended and can no longer run ads.
Can TikTok suspend an account without a warning?
Yes. TikTok says "There are certain advertising policies that may trigger immediate account suspensions without prior warning."
Why does the warning list ad groups we already deleted?
TikTok notes that "Your TikTok Ads Manager may include deleted ad groups." Review every ad group the warning lists, deleted or not, so you know which policies it refers to.
Should we set up a backup TikTok ad account now?
No. TikTok says to avoid creating any new ad accounts while an appeal is being reviewed, and a second account for the same business does not fix what the first one was flagged for.
How does Curve help while we fix Account Health?
Curve's team sets up HIPAA-compliant, server-side conversions to TikTok in place of the pixel, detects PHI-like patterns before data reaches an ad platform, and signs a BAA on every plan. Book a call with Curve.
