Ad Account Rescue

Meta disabled our ad account (telehealth, TRT, weight loss)

On this page

A disabled ad account is a restriction on the ad account itself. Meta says that when an ad account is restricted, "your ad account, its ads and some of its advertising assets are disabled." Meta describes one way back: Business Support Home, where it may ask you to confirm your identity, complete verification, secure your account or request a review. Reviews are limited and the result is final. So fix the reason for the policy violation before you ask, request one review, and do not open another account while you wait.

Curve Compliance helps you use the wait to get your tracking right. Curve's team reviews what your website sends to Meta, Google and TikTok with you, then rebuilds your conversion tracking so it is HIPAA-compliant and keeps your campaigns optimizing on the channels you still run. Personal identifiers are SHA-256 hashed as Meta's API requires, and a BAA is signed on every plan. Book a call with Curve.

Disabled is not the same as rejected or restricted elsewhere

A rejected ad is one ad. A restricted business portfolio stops every ad account under it. A restricted personal profile stops one person. A disabled ad account sits in between: that account cannot run ads, and Meta says "Any ads running before the restriction will not be automatically restarted", even if the account comes back. If you are not sure which level you are dealing with, the restricted account recovery plan shows how to scope each one. This page is about the ad account.

There is also a clock. Meta says: "If your ad account is disabled for a policy violation and remains ineligible for reinstatement for 6 months, any unused prepaid services may be forfeited where allowed by law. After this timeframe, the account can't be reinstated."

Why telehealth, TRT and weight loss accounts get disabled

Meta says that when advertisers "severely or repeatedly violate our policies, we can go beyond rejecting ads" and restrict the business account, ad account, Page or user account. In these verticals it is usually a run of rejections in one category rather than one bad ad. The recurring causes:

  • Prescription offers. Meta's Health and wellness standard says "For weight loss products that require prescription, please refer to Drugs and Pharmaceuticals ads policy and comply with the geo-targeting, and written permission requirements." Testosterone is also a prescription product, so check that policy before promoting it.
  • Landing pages. Meta asks advertisers to review "the image, video, text, targeting or landing page" of a rejected ad. A page that leads with drug names, per-drug pricing or a medication checkout can sink ads that look fine on their own.
  • Appearance and outcome claims. The Health and wellness standard bans "statements of inferiority about physical appearance" and "promises of specific outcomes within a set timeframe without disclaimers or qualifiers." See why Meta rejects health and wellness ads.
  • Resubmitting rejected ads. Meta says editing or deleting a rejected ad "will not remove the violation from your account".
  • Non-policy causes. Meta also restricts accounts for unusual payment or account activity, high rates of failed or disputed payments, suspected compromise, or missing two-factor authentication. Those are fixed in Business Support Home, not by changing ads.

What still works

Check every asset on its own in Business Support Home under Account status overview. Other ad accounts, your Page and other admins may be unaffected. Meta notes that even when one person's profile is restricted, "other members of the business portfolio, ad account or Page, may still be able to advertise." Google, TikTok, Microsoft and LinkedIn apply their own healthcare rules, and search, email and referral channels keep working.

The recovery order

  1. In Business Support Home, select Account status overview, choose the disabled account and read the What you can do section. Complete what it asks for in the order shown, whether that is identity confirmation, verification, securing the account or a review.
  2. Find the policy named in the notice and any ads or assets listed with it. Read them side by side with the current policy text.
  3. Fix everything that matches, not only the listed ad: other live ads making the same claim, the landing pages, and any page the ads link to.
  4. Then request one review. You must be an admin on the account. Meta says "Typically, our review is completed in 48 hours, although it may take longer in some cases."
  5. If the account comes back, turn ads on again yourself in Ads Manager, starting with the ones you rewrote.

What not to do

  • Do not open a new ad account, Page or business portfolio to keep advertising. Meta enforces against circumventing its restrictions, and a replacement account does nothing about the reason the first one was disabled. See whether to open a new ad account.
  • Do not request a review before the fix. Meta says "There is a limited number of times you can request an advertising restriction review. Once the review is completed, the decision is final."
  • Do not run ads from a colleague's, freelancer's or family member's personal profile.
  • Do not change the data you send to Meta so the business looks less like healthcare, such as renaming events. Fix what is sent. Do not disguise it.

While you wait

Use the time to put the data side in order, so a future Business Tools notice is not the next problem. If you want help with that, book a call with Curve. If the review is denied, read what to do after Meta denies a review.

Talk to Curve

While Meta reviews the account, you can make sure your tracking is in order for every channel you run. Curve's team will go through what your site sends with you and set up HIPAA-compliant conversion tracking, typically live in about a week (it varies case by case), with a BAA signed on every plan. To get started, book a call with Curve.

How Curve helps

  • Curve's team reviews what your website sends to Meta, Google and TikTok with you.
  • Curve rebuilds your conversion tracking so it is HIPAA-compliant and keeps your campaigns optimizing, sending conversions server-side to Meta Conversions API, Google Ads, TikTok, Microsoft and LinkedIn.
  • Personal identifiers are SHA-256 hashed as the ad platforms' APIs require.
  • Curve signs a BAA on every plan, and Curve's team does the setup for you, typically live in about a week (it varies case by case).

Frequently asked questions

Can we get a disabled Meta ad account back?

Sometimes. Meta says that if a review finds the restrictions shouldn't apply, it removes them, but reviews are limited and the decision after a review is final, so fix the cause before you ask.

Should we open a new ad account while we wait?

No. Meta enforces against circumventing restrictions, and a new account does not fix the reason the first one was disabled.

Do our ads restart automatically if the account comes back?

No. Meta says ads running before the restriction will not be automatically restarted, so you turn them on again in Ads Manager.

What can we fix on the tracking side while we wait?

Curve's team reviews what your website sends to Meta, Google and TikTok with you and rebuilds your conversion tracking so it is HIPAA-compliant, so your data is in order for every channel you run. A BAA is signed on every plan, and Curve's team does the setup for you. Book a call with Curve.

What happens if the account stays disabled?

Meta says an ad account disabled for a policy violation that stays ineligible for 6 months can't be brought back after that, and unused prepaid services may be forfeited where the law allows.
