Ahrefs Brand Radar is Ahrefs' tool for tracking how a brand shows up in AI answers, while Curve Compliance's AI Visibility is built for healthcare: it shows how often AI assistants name and cite your practice for the questions your patients ask, and ties those answers to the visits and bookings they bring you. Ahrefs sums up one half of its tool as “See any brand’s AI visibility instantly across 525 million prompts.” and the other as “Track the exact questions your buyers ask.” (Ahrefs). AI Visibility is a feature in Curve Compliance, and Curve also offers it as a managed service. Below is how the two compare for a clinic, a dental group or a telehealth brand, using each company's own descriptions.

Already use Ahrefs for SEO? Curve's team can show you how AI assistants answer your patients' questions, and the visits and bookings those answers bring. Book a call to see AI Visibility on your own questions, or to talk about the managed service.

What Ahrefs Brand Radar does

Ahrefs describes Brand Radar with the line “Track and grow your brand’s visibility across AI answers.” and splits it into two ways to track (Ahrefs). Prompt Tracking, which Ahrefs also calls Custom Prompts, follows questions you choose, and Ahrefs says it “Works even if no one searches your brand name yet.” The AI Visibility Index needs no setup and is, in Ahrefs' words, “Best once your brand already appears in AI search.” The page also lists AI Analytics and AI Sources. Each row below uses Ahrefs' own wording.

Part of Brand RadarWhat Ahrefs says it doesSource
Custom Prompts“Add the exact questions your buyers ask before they choose a brand.” Ahrefs adds: “Track prompts daily, weekly, or monthly to stay in the loop with real-time AI changes.”Ahrefs Brand Radar
AI Visibility Index“The AI Visibility Index maps how brands appear across millions of pre-collected AI responses, instantly, with no setup.”Ahrefs Brand Radar
AI Visibility reports“Benchmark your brand against competitors in AI search and spot who wins your niche.”Ahrefs Brand Radar
AI Analytics“Find the pages AI search already sends traffic to, then create more of what’s working.”Ahrefs Brand Radar
AI Sources“Track the offsite sources that influence AI visibility”, with YouTube, TikTok and Reddit named on the page.Ahrefs Brand Radar

Ahrefs' FAQ defines the metrics. Mentions are “how often your brand name appears in AI answer text”, citations are “how often AI links to your pages or domains as a source”, and AI Share of Voice is “the percentage of AI responses within your topic set that mention or cite your brand versus competitors”. It also reports Estimated Impressions, “potential visibility weighted by the real search volume behind each prompt” (Ahrefs). See AI share of voice for the healthcare view.

Index or your own questions: what matters for a clinic

The two halves of Brand Radar answer different questions. Ahrefs says the index starts from “real queries from its keyword database”, expanded “into natural questions via People Also Ask and semantic fanout”. Its FAQ is direct about fit: “It works best for established brands or topics with meaningful search demand, since the index is built on Ahrefs’ keyword database and may have limited coverage for brands with little or no search volume.” Of Custom Prompts it says: “They are great if your brand is not well-known, or you have uncommon queries to track.” (Ahrefs)

Most patient questions sit on the custom side. A patient asks for a gynecologic surgeon in Jacksonville, a telehealth therapist for anxiety, or whether a clinic takes their insurance. Those questions are local and specific, and many have little search volume of their own. The demand behind them is real. OpenAI reported in January 2026: “More than 40 million turn to ChatGPT every day with healthcare questions.” (OpenAI) KFF found in March 2026 that “about a third (32%) of adults are turning to AI for health information and advice” (KFF).

So the useful view for a practice is its own patients' questions, checked often enough to show change. For the searches assistants run behind the scenes, see query fan-out in healthcare.

What Curve's AI Visibility does for clinics

AI Visibility shows how often AI assistants, including ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Perplexity, Claude and Gemini, name and cite your practice for the questions your patients ask. It reports three numbers: mention rate (how often AI answers name you), citation rate (how often they cite your site) and share of voice (your share of the mentions among the brands you compete with).

  • Bookings, not only mentions. It ties AI answers to the visits and bookings they bring you.
  • Built for healthcare. Only the marketing question you track is sent to AI assistants, screened for PHI first, and never anything about a patient. Curve is SOC 2 Type II and signs a BAA on every plan.
  • A roadmap your clinicians can keep up with. It turns what it finds into a weekly roadmap sized to what your clinicians can publish, with medical topics flagged for clinical review.
  • A team to run it. Curve's team can run it for you as a managed service.
  • What AI gets wrong. It catches what AI gets wrong about your practice, so you can correct it on the pages AI reads.

AI Visibility also shows where competitors are named and you aren't, who leads each topic, and which sources AI cites. It measures what each published piece changes. Every week you get a plain-language summary of what changed, and a one-page report to share.

Google's guide offers a reminder about any tool in this space: “No third-party tool has access to our internal ranking or AI systems.” It adds: “Use these tools if they help your workflow, but be sure to evaluate their advice against our official guidance.” (Google) That advice applies to every tool on this page.

Using Brand Radar and Curve together

If your team already uses Ahrefs for keyword research and site audits, the two can sit side by side:

  • Scan the category in Ahrefs. Ahrefs says the index lets you “immediately search any brand, product, or entire category” (Ahrefs), which suits a first look at who AI names in your specialty.
  • See your patients' questions in Curve. Use AI Visibility to see how AI assistants answer the questions that lead to appointments, where competitors are named and you aren't, and which answers bring visits and bookings.
  • Fix what AI can't read. AI Visibility checks whether AI search can read your site, and what to fix. With the managed service, Curve's team makes those fixes. If your developer manages your site, Curve's team hands them the exact fixes.

How to choose for a healthcare brand

  • Whose questions? Check that the tool tracks the questions your own patients ask, in the words they use.
  • What happens after the answer? A mention matters when it leads to a booking. Check whether the tool connects AI visits to appointments.
  • What leaves your systems? In healthcare, the only thing an AI visibility tool should send to an assistant is a marketing question. Ask each vendor what it sends and whether it screens for patient details.
  • How often? Ahrefs says Custom Prompts can run daily, weekly or monthly. Ask any vendor how often it checks your questions.
  • Who runs it? Some teams want software, others want a team to run it. With Curve you can have either: use AI Visibility yourself, or have Curve's team run it for you as a managed service.
  • Agency or in-house? Agencies can use AI Visibility for their clients, or have Curve's team run it for them. See AI visibility for agencies.

What This Looks Like in Practice

In one AI Visibility program we've run, for a HIPAA-focused healthcare software brand, Curve's team tracked the questions buyers ask AI assistants, found where competitors were named and the brand wasn't, and published pages to close those gaps. About five weeks in:

  • AI assistants named or cited the brand in 53% of their answers to its 40 core buyer questions (104 of 196), across ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Perplexity and Claude.
  • Across 184 real buyer questions and 912 AI answers, its site was cited in 236 answers, more than any competitor's and more than 2.5 times as many as the nearest one (89).
  • 47 of the new pages were already cited by AI assistants within six days of going live.
  • One new page brought in more than half of the brand's unpaid ChatGPT visits in its first week.

How Curve Compliance helps

Your clinicians review and approve anything medical before it goes live.

Each month, Curve's team walks you through your results on a call and sends a one-page report. AI Visibility is available on request: book a call to get started.
