Switching From Hyros: A Guide for Telehealth Brands
How a telehealth brand moves from Hyros to Curve Compliance: server-side tracking, a BAA on every plan, and setup done by Curve's team in about a week.
A telehealth brand switches from Hyros by moving its conversion tracking to Curve Compliance, which sends conversions to Meta, Google, TikTok, Microsoft and other ad platforms server-side in place of pixels. Curve signs a BAA on every plan, and Curve's team does the HIPAA-compliant setup for you, usually in about a week. You keep your ad accounts, campaigns and UTM conventions, re-create the conversions you optimize toward under neutral event names, run Hyros and Curve side by side with only one tool sending each conversion to each platform, then compare reports and retire Hyros.

Why telehealth tracking is different
Hyros connects ad clicks to leads, calls and sales, then sends events back to ad platforms. Its AI pixel FAQ lists Facebook, TikTok, Google and Snapchat as the platforms it can send events to. On a telehealth site, the path from click to sale runs through pages about symptoms, treatments and prescriptions, and that changes the rules in three ways.
HIPAA applies to your tracking
HHS guidance on online tracking technologies says tracking on logged-in pages, such as a telehealth platform, generally has access to PHI, and that unauthenticated pages where people schedule appointments can too. When a tracking vendor receives PHI, HHS expects a business associate agreement (BAA) with that vendor. HHS notes at the top of the page that a federal court vacated one portion of the guidance in 2024, covering visits to public pages about health conditions.
PHI can travel in pixels and URLs
A browser pixel sees what the browser sees: the page address, its query string, button labels and, depending on setup, form fields. A path like /intake/weight-loss says something about the person on it. Meta's own help center lists medical conditions, treatments and prescription medications among the information businesses should not send, and warns that "UTM parameters in a URL string may contain prohibited data from the landing pages viewed." The same applies to intake forms, where answers can end up inside event data.
Meta may treat telehealth as health and wellness
Meta can place a website in a health and wellness data source category, naming a "telemedicine platform" and a "pharmacy" as examples, and says such categories "may have additional data sharing restrictions." A category Meta assigns cannot be changed by the advertiser, though you can ask Meta to review it. Curve's server-side tracking, neutral event names and PHI-like pattern detection are built for exactly this setting.
Hyros's terms of service speak to health data directly. Customers agree not to process PHI through the service, and the terms state that "Company does not enter into Business Associate Agreements for the Services." Curve Compliance signs a BAA on every plan, so the tracking on your booking and intake flow sits under a signed agreement.
What carries over from Hyros
Most of what you built around Hyros stays in place. The work is in how conversions are named, sent and connected to your booking flow.
- Ad accounts and campaigns. Nothing is rebuilt in Meta, Google or TikTok. Curve's team connects the accounts you already run.
- UTM conventions. Keep source, medium and campaign naming consistent so reports line up during the comparison, and check that no UTM value names a condition or medication. Hyros's ad-level tracking parameters, such as fbc_id and h_ad_id on Facebook ads, can stay on your ads until Hyros is retired.
- The conversions you optimize toward. Leads, booked calls, consults and purchases all move over. Curve's team re-creates each one under a neutral event name, so a platform learns that a conversion happened, not what it was for.
- Your booking and call flow. If patients book through a calendar, an intake form or a call, Curve keeps attribution through those tools with bridge tokens, webhooks and offline uploads.
- Your history. Hyros reports stay in Hyros. Save the Last Click and Scientific reports you plan to compare against before you close the account.
One thing works differently: which conversions reach each platform. The Hyros FAQ explains that "only events that are attributed to the ad platform and ad account you have integrated with are sent back to that ad platform," based on the attribution mode you choose, with organic sources ignored by default. With Curve, each conversion you map is sent server-side to the platforms you connect, with contact identifiers SHA-256 hashed to each platform's requirements. Expect platform conversion counts to move, and plan your comparison around that.
How to switch from Hyros, step by step
Curve's team does the setup. Your part is access and a few decisions.
- Book a call and walk through your funnel. Ad platforms, landing pages, quiz or intake, booking tool, and the point where a patient becomes revenue: a consult, a prescription or a subscription.
- Sign the BAA. Curve signs one on every plan, at the start of setup.
- List what Hyros sends today. Which events go to which platform, and which ones your campaigns optimize toward. This becomes the map for the rebuild.
- Curve's team rebuilds the events. Each conversion gets a neutral event name, and contact identifiers are SHA-256 hashed to each platform's requirements before they are sent.
- Curve's team installs server-side tracking in place of pixels. Meta, Google, TikTok, Microsoft and others receive conversions from Curve's servers rather than from browser tags. Consent management and PHI-like pattern detection are set up at the same time.
- Connect booking and intake. Bridge tokens carry attribution when a patient moves into a separate booking or intake tool, and webhooks and offline uploads bring completed bookings and later outcomes back as conversions.
- Go live one platform at a time. Turn on Curve's events for a platform and switch off Hyros's event sending to that platform the same day.
Curve's team usually completes the HIPAA-compliant setup in about a week.
Running Hyros and Curve side by side
A side-by-side period lets you check the numbers before you retire anything. Four habits keep it clean.
- One sender per conversion per platform. If Hyros and Curve both send the same purchase to the same Meta dataset or Google Ads conversion action, the platform can count it twice. Move sending one platform at a time and switch Hyros off for that platform as Curve goes live.
- Keep the overlap on approved pages. In line with Hyros's own terms on PHI, keep its script off booking, intake and logged-in pages during the overlap, and let your compliance lead approve the pages where it stays for reporting.
- Run it long enough. Cover at least one full journey from first click to purchase. The Hyros FAQ gives the same rule of thumb for its attribution settings: "include at least the number of days of your average customer journey from initial ad click to purchase." For many telehealth funnels that means two to four weeks.
- Change one platform at a time. Moving Meta first and Google second makes any shift in reported results easy to trace to its cause.
Which reports to compare
- Your own source of truth. Completed consults, prescriptions or subscriptions from your booking, EHR or billing system, counted by week. Judge both tools against this number.
- Platform-reported conversions. Meta Ads Manager and Events Manager, Google Ads conversions and TikTok results, before and after each platform moves. Because Hyros sends back only the events it attributes to each platform, counts under Curve will usually differ, so compare trend and cost per result as well as totals.
- Hyros's Last Click report. This is the closest like-for-like view against platform numbers. Hyros describes its Scientific Report as merging "First and Last Click attribution," so read that one as a separate lens.
- Weekly results in your AI client. With Curve MCP, you can ask Claude, ChatGPT or another MCP client how each Meta and Google Ads campaign did over recent weeks, with spend next to the conversions Curve tracked.
- Recordings of converted visits. Session recordings and heatmaps run under the same BAA as Curve's tracking, so you can watch how visitors from a campaign move through your landing pages and intake.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does a telehealth brand switch from Hyros to Curve Compliance?
Book a call, sign Curve's BAA and share what Hyros sends today. Curve's team rebuilds your conversions under neutral event names, installs server-side tracking for Meta, Google, TikTok, Microsoft and others, and connects your booking and intake tools. You then run both tools side by side, moving one platform at a time, before retiring Hyros.
Does Hyros sign a BAA?
Hyros's terms of service state that "Company does not enter into Business Associate Agreements for the Services" and ask customers not to process PHI through the service. Curve Compliance signs a BAA on every plan.
How long does the switch take?
Curve's team usually completes the HIPAA-compliant setup in about a week. Plan the side-by-side period to cover at least one full customer journey from first click to purchase.
Will my Meta and Google conversion numbers change?
They may. Hyros sends back only the events it attributes to each platform, while Curve sends each conversion you map to the platforms you connect. Compare trends and cost per result against your own count of completed consults or orders.
Do I need to rebuild campaigns or change my UTMs?
No rebuild is needed. Keep your UTM naming consistent, check that no value names a condition or medication, and leave Hyros's ad parameters in place until Hyros is retired.
How does Curve keep attribution when patients book in another tool?
Bridge tokens carry attribution into separate booking and intake tools, and webhooks and offline uploads bring completed bookings and later outcomes back as conversions.
Can I see how visitors from each campaign use my site?
Yes. Curve includes session recordings and heatmaps under the same BAA as its tracking, and Curve MCP lets you ask an AI client how your campaigns and conversions did.
